Goods transported by lorries increases 7% in Q2

A total of 65 million tonnes of goods were transported by lorries in the second quarter of 2018, which was seven per cent more than in the corresponding quarter of the previous year, according to Statistics Finland.

The volume of transported soil materials increased by 36 per cent and the volume of transport for other goods decreased by nine per cent compared to the second quarter of 2017.

The total transport volume of lorries amounted to 6.3 billion tonne-kilometres in the second quarter of 2018, which was four per cent less than in the corresponding quarter of one year before. Ninety-five per cent of the transport volume was transported in professional transport and five per cent in private transport.
