Wage, salary increase by 3.4% in Finland in August Y-on-Y

The working day adjusted wages and salaries sum of the whole economy was 3.4 per cent higher in August 2026 than in August 2025, according to Statistics Finland.

The seasonally adjusted wages and salaries sum of the whole economy increased by 1.1 per cent in August from the previous month.

The working day adjusted wages and salaries sum was 3.7 per cent higher in the private sector in August than twelve months earlier.

The wages and salaries sum in the public sector was 2.2 per cent higher than a year earlier in the corresponding period.

In the private sector, the seasonally adjusted wages and salaries sum increased by 1.3 per cent and decreased in the public sector by 0.6 per cent in August from the month before.

The working day adjusted wages and salaries sum grew in August 2026 in all other main industries but decreased in the industry of private health and social work compared to August 2025.

The working day adjusted wages and salaries sum increased significantly in the industries of construction (8.5%) and manufacturing (5.5%).

The growth was moderate in the industries of finance and insurance (4,0%), other services (3.0%), private education (1.1%) and trade (0.6%).

At the same period the working day adjusted wages and salaries sum decreased in the industry of private health and social work (0.1%).
