Building costs go up by 3.5% in August Y-on-Y

Building costs increased by 3.5 per cent in August 2026 compared to the previous year's corresponding period, according to Statistics Finland.
Among materials, the biggest cost increases in the year were recorded in heat, water and sewer supplies (8.8%) and in concrete, bricks and blocks (6.7%).
Costs decreased most in the year in soil (5.3%).
Labour input costs increased by 4.4 per cent in August 2026 compared to a year ago while the costs of materials increased by 3.0 per cent.
The costs of services increased by 3.3 per cent compared to a year ago.
