Wage, salary drops in July from last month but increase Y-on-Y

The working day adjusted wages and salaries sum of the whole economy was 1.1 per cent higher in July 2026 than in July 2025, according to Statistics Finland.
The wages and salaries sum of the whole economy decreased by 1.1 per cent in July from the previous month.
The working day adjusted wages and salaries sum was 0.8 per cent higher in the private sector in July than twelve months earlier.
The wages and salaries sum in the public sector was 3.4 per cent higher than a year earlier in the corresponding period.
In the private sector, the seasonally adjusted wages and salaries sum decreased by 1.3 per cent and increased in the public sector by 0.1 per cent in July from the month before.
The wages and salaries sum decreased in July 2026 in majority of main industries but increased in the industries of finance and insurance, other services and manufacturing compared to July 2025.
The wages and salaries sum increased in the industries of finance and insurance (3.6%), other services (1.1%) and manufacturing (0.1%).
At the same period the working day adjusted wages and salaries sum decreased in the industries of private education (4.4%), construction (2.4%), private health and social work (0.9%) and trade (0,2%).
