Bankruptcy, company opening drop in July, Q2

A total of 243 bankruptcy proceedings were instigated in July 2026, which is 8 bankruptcies fewer than in the corresponding period one year before, according to Statistics Finland.
The number of staff-years in enterprises that filed for bankruptcy totalled 841, which is 89 staff-years fewer than in July 2025.
The 12-month moving annual change in instigated bankruptcy proceedings was 6 per cent in July.
A total of 19 enterprises in manufacturing, 25 in trade and 50 in construction filed for bankruptcy.
Meanwhile, a total of 15,220 new enterprises were registered during the second quarter of 2026.
Compared to the corresponding period of the year before, the number of registrations went down by 10 per cent.
Of the registered enterprises 5,231 were limited companies and 9,888 were natural persons.
