VTT Technical Research Centre decided to cut a total of 175 jobs as a part of its new operating model, said an official press release on Wednesday.
The change negotiations, which began on 27 April 2026, have been concluded, said VTT, adding that it is renewing its organisation and will combine its three business areas into two.
The aim is to invest in growth areas and create significant impact through research.
The new business areas, Digital systems and Materials and energy, will strengthen synergies between research themes and establish more unified operating practices, while reducing overlaps between different functions.
In addition, VTT will establish a new unit to strengthen the use of artificial intelligence in research and to increase digital capabilities across research activities.
As a result of the change negotiations, VTT will discontinue some tasks and roles in support functions and research.
“Consequently, the employment of 175 people will end. VTT takes its personnel into account during the change and offers support in several ways,” said VTT in the press release.
VTT will publish its new strategy on 3 June 2026.
VTT’s new operating model will take effect on 1 August 2026.
