Building costs rise by 1.5% in January

Building costs increased by 1.5 per cent in January 2026 compared to the stipulated month of the previous year, according to Statistics Finland.

Among materials, the biggest cost increased in the year were recorded in timber structures (8.1%) and in roofing materials (3.2%).

Costs decreased most in the year in construction site surface structures (4.7%) and in heat insulation (2.3%).

Labour input costs increased by 3.1 per cent in January 2026 compared to a year ago.

The costs of materials increased by 1.0 per cent compared to a year ago.

The costs of services decreased by 1.5 per cent compared to a year ago.
