A Chinese Ministry of Commerce spokesperson on Thursday said that China welcomes Finnish enterprises to continue investing actively in the country and share the opportunities created by China's high-quality development, reported Xinhua.
Spokesperson He Yongqian made the remarks when answering questions regarding consensus and outcomes achieved in the economic and trade field during Finnish Prime Minister Petteri Orpo's recent visit to China, and efforts to be made to further deepen bilateral economic and trade cooperation between the two countries.
The visit was successful and the two sides achieved pragmatic outcomes in economic and trade cooperation, the spokesperson said.
During the visit, China's Ministry of Commerce and Finland's Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on strengthening the work of the China-Finland Committee for Innovative Business Cooperation, and jointly convened the sixth meeting of the committee, the spokesperson noted.
More than 50 enterprises from both countries engaged in in-depth discussions on cooperation in areas such as innovation, green development and the digital economy. Multiple commercial agreements were signed, covering sectors including mining machinery, healthcare, papermaking and green buildings, according to the spokesperson.
Finnish companies voiced strong confidence in China's economic outlook and the potential of its vast market, expressing their willingness to make long-term investments and deepen their presence in China, He said.
Going forward, the ministry will work with the Finnish side to implement the important consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries, make good use of mechanisms such as the bilateral economic and trade joint committee, and further deepen communication and coordination on policies, he said.
