Alcohol price highest in Finland among EU countries

Drinks are most expensive in Finland, where alcohol prices were 110% above the average, followed by Denmark with 23% and Belgium with 13%, reported dpa, quoting official figures released on Monday.

Meanwhile, prices for alcoholic beverages in Germany were 14% below the EU-wide average in October.

Across the bloc, wine, beer and spirits were only cheaper in Italy, where prices were 19% below the EU average, Germany's federal statistical office said in a statement.

By contrast, prices for non-alcoholic drinks in Germany were only 2% below the EU average, while they were cheapest in Italy.

Non-alcoholic beverages were most expensive in Latvia, with the price level at 46% above average, due to the country's tax on sugar.
