Unemployed rate rises to 10.3% in Finland in Oct

The trend of the unemployment rate among persons aged 15 to 74 was 10.3 per cent in October, according to Statistics Finland.
The number of unemployed persons aged 15 to 74 was 276,000 (margin of error ±23,000), which was 48,000 more than one year earlier.
The number of unemployed men was 143,000 and that of unemployed women 133,000.
In October, the non-seasonally adjusted unemployment rate of persons or the proportion of the unemployed among the labour force stood at 9.6 per cent, having been 8.1 per cent one year earlier.
The unemployment rate of men stood at 9.7 per cent, which was 0.7 percentage points higher than one year before. The unemployment rate of women stood at 9.4 per cent, which was 2.3 percentage points higher than in the previous year.
In October, the share of the unemployed aged 15 to 24 among the labour force stood at 22.5 per cent, which was 6.3 percentage points higher than one year earlier.
The trend of the unemployment rate among young people was 22.4 per cent. The share of unemployed young people aged 15 to 24 among the population in the same age group was 11.6 per cent.
Meanwhile, the number of employed persons aged 15 to 74 was 2,611,000 (margin of error ±31,000), which was 25,000 more than one year earlier.
The number of employed men was nearly the same and the number of employed women was 24,000 higher compared to October last year.
