Prices of old houses drop by 5% in Jan

Prices of old dwellings in housing companies fell in the whole country by 5.6 per cent in January from the previous year and by 2.9 per cent from the previous month, according to Statistics Finland.

Prices fell in all large towns. The fall from the previous year was biggest in Tampere (10.5 per cent), in Vantaa (9.6 per cent) and in Helsinki (7.0 per cent).

Prices of old dwellings in housing companies decreased by 6.7 per cent in the six largest towns compared to the previous year. Prices went down by 3.6 per cent outside large towns.

Prices of dwellings in blocks of flats fell in the whole country by 5.7 per cent and prices of dwellings in terraced houses by 5.5 per cent compared to one year ago.

In January, six per cent fewer sales of old dwellings in blocks of flats and terraced houses were made through real estate agents than one year earlier.
