New car registration drops by 8% in Jan

A total of 6,589 new passenger cars were registered in January 2024, which was 8 per cent fewer than one year earlier, according to Statistics Finland.

In all, 11,035 new vehicles were registered in January. First registrations decreased by 11 per cent from the corresponding month of the previous year.

Out of first-time registered passenger cars, 24 per cent were fully electric. The number of the electric cars was 1,588, or 15 per cent lower than one year earlier.

Used imported passenger cars numbered 3,124, which was 32 per cent more than one year earlier.
