Number of debt restructuring pleas rises by 20% in Jan-Sep

A total of 3,648 debt restructuring petitions of private persons were filed with district courts in January to September 2023, according to Statistics Finland.

The number of petitions filed was 609 or 20.0% higher compared to the stipulated period of the previous year.

Altogether 51.7 per cent of debt restructuring petitions were filed by men and 48.3 per cent by women in the first three quarters of 2023.

In 2022, a total of 4,355 debt restructuring petitions of private persons were filed with district courts .

The number of petitions was 540 or 14.2 % higher than in the 2021.
