Industrial output grows in August

Seasonally adjusted industrial output grew by 2.1 per cent in August from the month before, according to Statistics Finland.

Industrial output adjusted for working days went up by 1.0 per cent compared to August 2022.

Output was higher than in the previous month in nearly all main industries. Output decreased most in the electrical and electronics industry compared to the month before.

Output grew most in electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply from one year ago.

Adjusted for working days, industrial output declined by 0.3 per cent in August from one year earlier. Seasonally adjusted output grew by 1.8 per cent from the month before.

Industrial output grew from the previous month in several of the examined main industries. Compared to July, most growth was recorded in the forest industry, 9.3 per cent, in mining and quarrying, 6.9 per cent, and in electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply, 5.9 per cent.

Compared to the previous month, output decreased most in the electrical and electronics industry, by 12.2 per cent. Output also declined in the metal industry, by 0.7 per cent.

Compared to one year ago, output grew most in electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply, by 15.0 per cent, in the chemical industry, by 8.4 per cent and in the metal industry, by 2.1 per cent.

Output decreased by 17.0 per cent in the forest industry and by 10.4 per cent in the electrical and electronics industry from August 2022.
