New car registration drops by 17% in 2022

A total of 81,699 new passenger cars were registered in Mainland Finland in 2022, which was 17 per cent fewer than in 2021, according to Statistics Finland.

In all, 150,930 new vehicles were registered in 2022. First registrations decreased by 14 per cent compared to the previous year.

Out of the first-time registered passenger cars, 18 per cent were electric. The number of electric car registrations was 14,531, or 43 per cent higher than last year.
