Building costs rise by 6.4% in Jan Y-on-Y

Building costs rose by 6.4 per cent in January 2023 from one year back, according to Statistics Finland.

Among materials, the biggest increases in the year were recorded in heat insulation (20.2 %) and heat, water and sewer materials (17.1 %).

The costs of timber structures, however, fell 6.9 % from the previous year.

The costs of materials rose by 9.2 per cent while the prices of services increased by 6.0 per cent from one year ago.

Costs decreased most per month in timber structures, 2.2 per cent.

The total index went up by 0.9 per cent from the month before.
