New car registration drops by 9% in Jan

A total of 7,175 new passenger cars were registered in January 2023, which was 9 per cent fewer than one year earlier, according to Statistics Finland.

In all, 12,357 new vehicles were registered in January. First registrations decreased by 11 per cent from the corresponding month of the previous year.

Of first-time registered passenger cars, 26 per cent were electric. The number of their registrations was 1,862, or 88 per cent higher than one year earlier.

Used imported passenger numbered 2,367, which was 30 per cent fewer than one year earlier.
