New car registration drops by 10% in Aug

A total of 7,113 new passenger cars were registered in August 2022, which was 10 % fewer than one year earlier, according to Statistics Finland.

In all, 12,147 new vehicles were registered in August. First registrations decreased by 12 % from the corresponding month of the previous year.

The component shortage in the motor industry causes delays in the production of new cars.

Of first-time registered passenger cars, 22 % were electric. The number of electric cars registrations was 1,590, or 98 % higher than one year earlier.

Used imported passenger cars numbered 3,906, which was 5 % fewer than one year earlier.
