Rail freight traffic drops by 11 % in Q1

Freight transferred by rail in the first quarter of 2022 was 8.4 million tons, which was 11 % less than in the first quarter of 2021, according to Statistics Finland.
A total of 15.2 million trips was travelled by rail, which was 43 % more than in the same quarter of 2021.
In the first quarter of 2022, 8.4 million tons of goods were transported by rail.
The amount of trips was 33 % lower than the first quarter of 2019.
