New car registration drops by 17.8% in July

A total of 13,538 new motor vehicles were registered in July this year, of which 8,509 were automobiles, according to Statistics Finland.
First registrations decreased by 12.6 per cent from the corresponding month of the previous year.
In July the number of new passenger cars registered was 7,481, which was 17.8 per cent down from the year before.
The share of new electric passenger cars was 10.0 per cent and plug-in hybrid electric cars 18.1 per cent.
A total of 2,105 new electric and plug-in hybrid electric cars were registered, which was 43 per cent up from the year before.
The numbers are exclusive of the vehicles on the Åland Islands.
In the January to July period a total of 115,653 vehicles were first registered. Compared to the year before, there was an increase of 12.2 per cent.
The number of passenger cars first registered in the January to July period was 64,215, which is 13.7 per cent up from the year before.
The most common passenger car makes first registered in the January to July period were Toyota, Volkswagen and Skoda.
