New car registration increases in June

In June 2021 a total of 18,199 new motor vehicles were registered, of which 11,661 were automobiles, according to Statistics Finland.
First registrations increased by 12.3 percent from the corresponding month of the previous year.
In June the number of new passenger cars registered was 9,941, which was 23.9 per cent up from the year before, but compared to June 2019, passenger car registrations decreased by 5.7 percent. The share of new electric passenger cars was 10.6 per cent and plug-in hybrid electric cars 19.5 per cent.
A total of 2,997 new electric and plug-in hybrid electric cars were registered, which was 158 per cent up from the year before. These data are based on the Traffic Affairs Register of the Finnish Transport and Communications Agency (Traficom) and they have been produced by Statistics Finland. The numbers are exclusive of the vehicles on the Åland Islands.
In the January to June period of 2021 a total of 102,109 vehicles were first registered. Compared to the year before, there was an increase of 16.6 per cent. The number of passenger cars first registered in the January to June period was 56,730, which is 19.7 per cent up from the year before.
The most common passenger car makes first registered in the January to June period were Toyota, Volkswagen and Skoda.
