New car registration increases by 13.3% in March

A total of 18,215 new motor vehicles were registered in March this year, of which 12,244 were automobiles, according to Statistics Finland.
First registrations increased by 14.8 per cent from the corresponding month of the previous year.
Meanwhile, the number of new passenger cars registered was 10,428 in March, which was 13.3 per cent up from the year before.
The share of new electric passenger cars was 7.6 per cent and plug-in hybrid electric cars 21.1 per cent.
A total of 2,988 new electric and plug-in hybrid electric cars were registered, which was 68.0 per cent up from the year before.
In the January to March period of 2021 a total of 47,225 vehicles were first registered. Compared to the year before, there was an increase of 4.5 per cent.
The number of passenger cars first registered in the January to March period was 27,978, which is 1.0 per cent down from the year before.
The most common passenger car makes first registered in the January to March period were Toyota, Skoda and Volkswagen.
