New car registration inches down in September

A total of 14,556 new motor vehicles were registered in September 2020, of which 9,888 were automobiles.
First registrations increased by 6.6 per cent from the corresponding month of the previous year, according to the Statistics Finland.
In September, the number of new private cars registered was 8,424, which was 0.2 per cent down from the year before.
The share of new diesel-driven private cars was 11.9 per cent.
The numbers are, however, exclusive of the vehicles registered on the Åland Islands.
In the January to September period of 2020, a total of 131,664 vehicles were first registered. Compared to the year before, it marked a 10.4 per cent decline.
The number of private cars first registered in the January to September period was 73,403, which is 16.5 per cent down from the year before.
The most common passenger car makes first registered in January to September are Toyota, Skoda, and Volkswagen.
