Import of new private cars rises by 6%

A total of 14,135 new motor vehicles were registered in July this year, posting a 5.1 per cent rise than the number of July 2016, according to Statistics Finland.

The number of new private cars registered in July 2017 was 8,848, which is 6.0 per cent higher than that in July in the previous year.

The share of new diesel-driven passenger cars was 27.7 per cent.

From January to July a total of 118,582 vehicles were first registered. Compared to the year before, it shows an increase of 2.9 per cent.

The number of private cars first registered in the January-July period was 73,294, which is 0.7 per cent down from the corresponding period in the year before.

The most common passenger car makes first registered in the January to July period were Toyota, Volkswagen, and Skoda.
