New private car registration falls by 21% in March

The registration of new private cars was decreased by 20.9 percent in March this year compared to the number of the stipulated period of previous year, according to Statistics Finland.

In March 2019 the number of new private cars registered was 9,277.

A total of 15,571 new motor vehicles were registered in March this year, of which 10,980 were automobiles.

First registrations of motor vehicles were decreased by 9.9 per cent from the corresponding month of the previous year.

The share of new diesel-driven private cars was 22.5 per cent.

Meanwhile, in the January to March period of 2019 a total of 47,068 vehicles were first registered. Compared to the year before, there was an decrease of 6.0 per cent.

The number of passenger cars first registered in the January to March period was 29,100, which is 15.4 per cent down from the year before.

The most common passenger car makes first registered in the January to March period were Toyota, Skoda and Volkswagen.
