19 killed after aircraft of Bangladesh Air Force crashes into school

At least 19 people were killed and 150 other injured after a training aircraft of Bangladesh Air Force crashed into a school in Dhaka, the capital city of Bangladesh on Monday, local media reported.

The aircraft crashed into Milestone School and College at Uttara area in the city at about 1:00 p.m.

A huge fire and a thick plume of smoke was seen after the aircraft slammed into a two-storey school building.

The armed forces in a statement on its social media platform Facebook said that the accident occurred when the F-7 jet, experienced a mechanical glitch after taking off for a training exercise.

The pilot was also killed in the crash.

More than 50 people mostly student in between four and 18 years were taken to hospital with burn injuries.

Eyewitness said that the plane directly hit the school building suddenly.
