Former Germany forward Thomas Müller does not see the German national football team as top contender for the World Cup title in summer because it lacks stability, reported dpa.

"We have enough quality to beat any top nation on one day. But I don't see the stability that we are almost impossible to beat," the 2014 World Cup winner Müller told Kicker sports magazine.

"There is difference there: Can I beat someone or am I difficult to beat."

Müller said the team lacks consistency at the moment going into the June 11-July 19 tournament in the United States, Mexico and Canada.

But he urged that "everyone in the squad should enter the tournament with the mindset to give their all to make the final possible."

Müller added in general terms he hopes for a champion that "is fun to watch" while ruling out a surprise winner like Greece at Euro 2004.

Müller, 36, left Bayern Munich after 25 trophy-laden years last summer for the Vancouver Whitecaps and said he feels at home at the club and in the Canadian city.

"My main topic is the football pitch. It worked on and off the pitch with the team from the outset," he said.

"The people are very open, a very international city with many cultures. No one knows whether you are a local or only in town since four hours. Life feels safe and there is a lot of nature.

"In short: the overall package is very liveable."

Müller added that his private life in Vancouver is "definitely a bit more relaxed" than in Munich but that he would return to Germany one day.

"I'm too deeply rooted for that. I really appreciate life in Germany," Müller said.
