Portugal win first U-17 World Cup title

Portugal became FIFA U-17 World Cup champions for the first time after beating Austria in the final held at Khalifa International Stadium in Doha on Thursday.

Anisio Cabral scored the solitary goal in the first-half to ensure victory for the country.

The performance of Portugal during the whole tournament was impressive, highlighting the potential of the youth Portuguese footballers.

"I feel so proud to coach these players. It was a hard journey, but with a lot of growing, for them and for me. After the great performance we had at the EURO's, to be able to win the World Cup is fantastic. I congratulate them for everything they have done, for everything they have been giving to the country and to Portuguese football," said FIFA in a press release, quoting Portugal coach Manuel Albino Morim Maçães known as Bino as saying.
