Cop riding motorcycle injured in road mishap in Turku

A police officer, who was riding a motorcycle, was injured in a road accident in Turku on Sunday afternoon, police said.

The accident took place at about 3:00 p.m. when a private car collided with the motorcycle bearing the police officer at Kurjenmäki area.

The car turned in front of the motorcycle which was being driven in the oncoming lane, said police after the preliminary investigation.

The officer of the Southwest Finland Police Department sustained wounds in the accident and was taken to hospital immediately.

The police are investigating into the incident to find out the reason behind it.

Police, however, did not divulge the identities of the police officer and the car driver.
