Defence Forces commander begins 5-day visit to USA

The commander of the Finnish Defence Forces, General Timo Kivinen has begun a visit to the United States on Sunday, according to an official press release.

During the visit, scheduled to be ended on February 27, Kivinen will participate in several top-level meetings in Washington and meets, among others, the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, General Mark A. Milley.

The travel program also includes visits to NATO staffs in Norfolk as well as to the United States Central Command in Tampa.

The commander of the Finnish Defence Forces is accompanied by the Chief of the Finnish Defence Forces Logistics Command, Major General Engineering Kari Renko, Finland's Defence Attaché to the United States, Colonel Petteri Seppälä and Deputy Defence Attaché, Commander Jussi Jämsén, as well as Aide-de-Camp to Chief of Defence, major Annukka Ylivaara, the press release added.
