3-year old drowns in Lahti

A 3-year old child drowned in Lahti on Tuesday, said a police bulletin.

The child was reported missing in a forest during the day, and was found by the police at a nearby river about half an hour after the missing notice was issued.

Several police patrol and rescue units were involved in the search.

The river is located about half a kilometres from the spot where the child was reported missing.

Attempts to resuscitate the child were futile. The incident is under investigation.
