3 more deaths, 593 new coronavirus infections diagnosed in 3 days

The coronavirus death toll in the country has reached 906 as three more patients died in the Helsinki-Uusimaa Hospital District (HUS) in the last three days since Friday afternoon, said the National Institute for Health and Welfare (THL) on Monday afternoon.

Meanwhile, the total number of coronavirus infections in the country has increased to 85, 937 as 593 new cases were diagnosed in the last three days.

Out of the new cases, 263 infections were diagnosed on Saturday, 197 on Sunday and 133 on Monday.

The number of coronavirus variants in the country remained at 4,716. Of them, 4,022 are UK variants, 693 South African variants, and one was Brazilian variant.

So far, 590 people have died in the Helsinki-Uusimaa Hospital District (HUS), 98 in the Turku Hospital District (TYKS), 82 in the Pohjois-Savo Hospital District (KYS), 80 in the Tampere-Pirkanmaa Hospital District (TAYS), and 56 in the Pohjois-Pohjanmaa Hospital District (OYS).

A total of 136 coronavirus patients, including 33 in intensive care units (ICUs), are now undergoing treatment at different hospitals in the country.

According to the THL report, in relation to Finland’s total population (5,537,046), the prevalence of COVID-19 cases is 1,552 per 100,000 people.

Currently, laboratories in the country have the testing capacity of about 30,000 samples a day.
