7 more deaths,1479 new coronavirus infections diagnosed in 3 days

The coronavirus death toll in Finland increased to 733 as seven more patients died at different hospitals in the country in the three days since Friday afternoon, said the National Institute for Health and Welfare (THL) on Monday.

Out of the deaths, five were reported in the in Helsinki-Uusimaa Hospital District (HUS) while one was reported in Turku Hospital District (TYKS) and Tampere-Pirkanmaa Hospital District (TAYS) each.

Meanwhile, the total number of coronavirus infections in the country has increased to 54, 132 as 1479 new cases were diagnosed in the last three days.

Out of the new cases, 632 infections were diagnosed on Saturday, 457 on Sunday, and 390 on Monday, said the THL.

So far, 488 people have died in the Helsinki-Uusimaa Hospital District (HUS), 79 in the Pohjois-Savo Hospital District (KYS), 73 in the Turku Hospital District (TYKS), 60 in the Tampere-Pirkanmaa (TAYS) Hospital District and 33 in the Pohjois-Pohjanmaa Hospital District (OYS).

A total of 170 coronavirus patients, including 30 in intensive care units (ICUs), are now undergoing treatment at different hospitals.

According to the THL report, in relation to Finland’s total population (5,543,233), the prevalence of COVID-19 cases is 977 per 100,000 people.

Currently, laboratories in the country have the testing capacity of about 30,000 samples a day.
