47 more cases of coronavirus diagnosed

Coronavirus infection cases up to 319 in Finland

The number of coronavirus infection cases raised to 319 in Finland as 47 more cases were diagnosed at different parts of the country on Tuesday, said the National Institute for Health and Welfare (THL)

Out of the new cases, 31 were diagnosed in the Helsinki and Uusimaa Hospital District, five in Pohjois-Karjala Hospital District, three in Kanta-Häme Hospital District and Etelä-Savo Hospital District each, two in Vaasa Hospital District and Etelä-Pohjanmaa Hospital District each and one in Pohjois-Pohjanmaa Hospital District.

The total confirmed cases in separate hospital districts are as follows:

Hospital District of Helsinki and Uusimaa (HUS) 180, Northern Ostrobothnia Hospital District (PPSHP) 28, Pirkanmaa Hospital District (PSHP) 25, Southwest Finland Hospital District (VSSHP) 15, Central Finland Health Care District

(KSSHP) 15, Kanta-Häme Hospital District (KHSHP) 13, Satakunta Hospital District 9, North Karelia Hospital District (PKSSK) 6, South Savo Hospital District (ESSOTE) 5, South Karelia Social and Health Care District (Eksote) 4, Vaasa

Hospital District (VSHP) 4, North Savo Hospital District (PSSHP) 3, Lapland Hospital District (LSPH) 3, Hospital District of Southern Ostrobothnia (EPSHP) 2, Central Ostrobothnia Hospital District (SOITE) 2, Western Ostrobothnia Hospital

District (LPSHP), 2 and Päijät-Häme Hospital District (PHHYKY) 1.

Meanwhile, THL Director General Markku Tervahauta on Monday said that the number of total infected people with coronavirus seemed to be much higher in Finland than the official figure counted by the authority.

He said that all the suspected cases are not being tested anymore, so the real number of infections is feared to be much higher.Only the seriously ill and risk group people such as social and healthcare workers are being tested in Finland now.

Earlier, the government on Monday already declared a state of emergency in the country following the outbreak of coronavirus and decided to close down all the educational institutions from Wednesday to April 13.
