French police arrest 7 suspected of preparing attack

Seven men, suspected of preparing an attack, were arrested on Monday morning in a counter-terrorism raid in the western French city of Brest, local radio reported.

The suspects planned a "violent act" and to join insurgents in Syria and Iraq, French radio broadcaster Europe 1 said, citing a source close to the investigation.

Some detainees are on the police watch list for radicalization. They were detained as part of an investigation into criminal terrorist association, the report added.

The attack's targets were not yet known.
