Leisure trips abroad by Finns tripled in 2022

The number of leisure trips made by Finnish people abroad was three times higher in 2022 compared to the number of the previous year, according to Statistics Finland.

The number of domestic leisure trips, however, fell to the pre-pandemic level of 2019 and part of the domestic trips made in 2021 were replaced by international trips.

Finnish residents made 29.7 million leisure trips with overnight stay in Finland and abroad, roughly the same number as in 2021.

Estonia became the post popular destinations abroad for the Finnish residents in 2022 followed by Sweden, Spain, Greece, Italy, Norway, Germany, Great Britain, France and Portugal.
