Trade balance posts €600m deficit in June

The trade balance was in deficit of EUR 600 million in June, according to the preliminary statistics of international trade in goods released by Finnish Customs.

In January-June, the aggregated deficit amounted to EUR 6.3 billion. In June 2021, the trade balance was EUR 285 million in deficit and in January-June of the same year, the aggregated deficit was EUR 1.9 billion.

The value of Finnish exports increased by 25.6 per cent, and the value of imports by 29.7 per cent in June year-on-year.

The value of Finnish exports in June was EUR 7.2 billion and the value of imports EUR 7.8 billion.

During the reference month in 2021 exports increased by 26.0 per cent and imports by 25.3 per cent.

In January-June 2021, the total value of exports increased by 24.8 per cent and the value of imports by 36.6 per cent year-on-year.

Exports to EU member states increased by 33.2 per cent, and exports to non-EU countries by 16.4 per cent in June.

Imports from EU countries increased by 15.6 per cent and imports from non-EU countries by 52.6 per cent.

Calculated from the beginning of the year, exports to EU countries rose by 32.1 per cent and to non-EU countries by 15.9 per cent.

During the same period, imports from EU member states rose by 23.6 per cent and from other countries by 56.4 per cent.
