12 killed in military plane crash in Myanmar

A military plane crashed in Myanmar's Mandalay region on Thursday morning, killing 12 people, a military spokesperson said, reported Xinhua.

With 14 people aboard, the military plane taking off from the capital city Nay Pyi Taw crashed in Pyin Oo Lwin of Mandalay region at around 8:00 a.m. local time due to severe weather, said Major General Zaw Min Tun of the Information Team of the State Administration Council.

The Mandalay Region Fire Department's social media page said 12 on board were killed.

Two people have been rescued and sent to a military hospital for treatment so far, the information team said.
