COVID-19 deaths in U.S. surpass 500

The total number of deaths from COVID-19 in the United States surpassed 500 by 3:30 p.m. U.S. Eastern Time (1930 GMT) on Monday, according to the Center for Systems Science and Engineering (CSSE) at Johns Hopkins University.

A total of 573 people have died from novel coronavirus in the country, where there are 41,511 confirmed cases, the CSSE said.

New York City suffered most deaths in the country with 98, and 75 deaths occurred in Kings County in the state of Washington, according to the CSSE.
