The number of cyanobacterial blooms have decreased in the Finnish sea areas since last week, said Finnish Environmental Institute (SYKE).

However, there still are a lot of cyanobacteria mixed in the water of the Gulf of Finland, and surface blooms occur in the southern coast of the Bothnian Sea and in the southern areas of Åland.

In lakes, the number of observations of cyanobacteria have decreased since last week, but there are still more observations than is usual.

New cyanobacterial blooms may still occur, if warm and calm weather conditions prevail.
