Mercury goes to minus 39°C in Utsjoki

The lowest temperature of this winter was recorded minus 38.9 degrees Celsius at Utsjoki, the northernmost town in the country on Saturday, according to the weather report of the Finnish Meteorological Institute.

Meanwhile, whole the Lapland has been experiencing cold weather since late Friday night and the temperature will start to go up from Sunday.

The temperature fell to bellow minus 30 degrees Celsius at in Kittilä and bellow minus 36 degrees delicious at Ivalo.

The Met office issued cold weather warning for northern and northeastern parts of Lapland and forecasted snow and sleet in most parts of the country on Sunday, reported National broadcaster Yle.
