The warm, dry weather with a nip in the air and gardens full of vibrant hues is a clarion call for all those who want to spend a balmy afternoon, lazing under a tree, munching on delicious food. Yes, it is not the time to waste weekends in malls and pubs, but to feel the dew drops under your feet and the soft breeze on your skin.

If you have not planned already, hurry up as picnic time lasts a really short while. It is not difficult to plan a picnic. There are several such weekend gateway spots that plan your picnic for you. However, if you want to do your own customization, here are some tips to make your picnic a treasured memory for life. 1. Zero down the place you want to visit. Ensure that your picnic spot is a safe place where you can relax with family sans worries. 2. Take a first-aid-box along as your picnic spot may not be very near a hospital. 3. Carry durees and rugs that are light and can be conveniently folded and placed in the car boot. 4. If you have a large garden umbrella, you must carry it as you may not want to get that difficult-to-remove tan. 5. Carry string hammocks and foldable chairs if you have kids and elderly accompanying you. 6. Take your favourite book and sports gear along. 7. Take sufficient water bottles so that they last through the day. 8. Plan your picnic basket keeping in mind breakfast, lunch, snacks, beverages and kids food. 9. Carry food which is non-messy like burgers, buns, dry cakes, croissants, fruits, salads, wraps, roasts, streaks, kebabs and sauteed veggies. 10. Your lunch can be one pot meals like biryanis, fried rice or kathi rolls, pastas, pizzas and noodles. Source: Times of Indi a
