The Finnish Aviation Labour Union’s (IAU) has begun a strike on Friday protesting against the ban on overtime, which may delay the baggage handling at Helsinki Airport during the weekend.

Delays for handling departing, transferring and arriving baggage are feared from February 21 to 23 for a temporary shortage of resources due to the strike, said a press release of Finavia, the company operates country´s airports.

The authority recommended that the passengers should arrive at the airport in good time before the flights and consider travelling with carry-on baggage only.

The national flag carrier Finnair requested the passengers to follow the instructions sent to via SMS/email or contact the Arrival Service desk at the destination to create a delay report for your baggage, if the baggage does not arrive on the same flight with the passengers to their destinations.

At Helsinki Airport, the Finnair authority also recommend the passengers to create the delay report online with own mobile devices.
