National flag carrier Finnair has been named Northern Europe’s Best Airline for the 10th consecutive year by Skytrax at the World Airline Awards event held on Tuesday at the Paris Air Show.

The World Airline Awards given by Skytrax are based on the findings of an independent survey of over 21.65 million passenger entries taken from September 2018 to May 2019 and covered over 300 airlines, said a Finnair press release.

The 53rd International Paris Air Show kicked off at Le Bourget Airport near Paris, France on Monday and will last to June 23.

"We are truly proud and honoured to receive this highly respected award for the 10th consecutive year," said Finnair Customer Experience Senior Vice-president Piia Karhu.

"This award is a clear demonstration of the dedicated work our team does to offer our customers a smooth and comfortable travel experience."

"A tenth consecutive win for Finnair as the Best Airline in northern Europe is a fantastic achievement and a very clear acknowledgement of the continued improvements that the airline is making across its network," said Skytrax CEO Edward Plaisted.

The World Airline Awards given by Skytrax are regarded as the primary benchmarking tool for passenger satisfaction levels of airlines throughout the world.
