Zverev crowned in tennis men's singles at Tokyo 2020

Alexander Zverev of Germany pocketed a gold medal in men's singles tennis competition with a straight-set victory over Karen Khachanov of the Russian Olympic Committee (ROC) at the Tokyo Olympic Games here on Sunday, reported Xinhua.

Fourth-seeded Zverev, who beat world No. 1 Novak Djokovic to reach the final, got past Khachanov 6-3, 6-1 in one hour and 19 minutes.

The German won 14 of 16 on first serves, and managed three aces to Khachanov's one.

Djokovic failed to bag home a bronze following a 6-4, 6-7 (6), 6-3 defeat to Pablo Carreno Busta from Spain.
