The Netherlands showed no mercy with winless North Macedonia as Memphis Depay scored once before Georginio Wijnaldum's second-half brace ensured the third win in as many games in Euro 2020 Group C on Monday, reported Xinhua.

North Macedonia staged a highly motivated performance at the Johan Cruyff Arena in Amsterdam and came to several chances but still it was the clinical hosts who opened the scoring as Depay was on target at the half hour mark.

The visitors were able to hold the pace until the half time but after the restart the "Elftal" took over and wrapped all three points with a quick fire from Wijnaldum, who scored two goals within seven minutes to destroy all North Macedonia's hopes of a comeback.

With the result, the Netherlands (9 points) have been confirmed as the winners of Group C followed by Austria (6 points), Ukraine (3 points) and North Macedonia (0 points).
