The goalkeeper of national football team, Lukas Hradecky, has been elected the sportsperson of 2020.
His name was announced from the annual sports gala on late Thursday night after the members of Finland’s sports journalists’ association voted him as the player of the year.
A total of 132 journalists cast votes in favour of Hradecky and his total points was 2,768.
Golf player Sami Välimäki secured second place in the contest.
Hradecky showed extra-ordinary performance in Germany’s Bundesliga for his club Bayer Leverkusen and for the Finnish national team in the qualifying round of the Europa League.
His performance helped Finland become runners-up in their Nations League group and securing a historical victory against world champions France in Paris by 2-0.
