Real Madrid beat FC Barcelona 3-1 in the Camp Nou Stadium in the first "Clasico" of the season on Saturday night, reported Xinhua.

Although Ansu Fati canceled out Fede Valverde's 5th minute opener for Real Madrid, the game changed after Real Madrid was awarded a controversial penalty after the intervention of the VAR.

Ramos made a huge meal of a shirt pull by Barca defender Clement Lenglet. Although the Barca players complained Ramos had previously pushed Lenglet, the penalty was given and Ramos made no mistake from the spot.

Barca had no response to falling behind. Had it not been for goalkeeper, Neto, who saved magnificently from Ramos, Tony Kross and Luka Modric, the game would have been over long before Modric kept his cool to score his side's third in injury time.

Atletico Madrid had a relatively comfortable 2-0 win at home to a Betis side that seems to lose gas week by week.

Marcos Llorente opened the scoring directly after halftime when he beat Claudio Bravo from a narrow angle and Yannick Carrasco hit the woodwork for the home side before the hour.

Martin Montoya was sent off for bringing down Carrasco when he was through on goal with 15 minutes left to play, but it was not until injury time that Luis Suarez sealed Atletico's win after an assist from Lodl.

Kike Garcia's 41st minute goal gave Eibar a surprise 1-0 win away to Sevilla. The experienced forward beat the offside trap before firing home a powerful shot and Eibar defended impressively in the second half to take all three points.

Ruben Garcia's 81st minute penalty after a needless foul from Ander Capa allowed Osasuna to celebrate its 100th anniversary with a 1-0 win at home to Athletic Club Bilbao, who had looked to have the game under control until Capa's error.

Friday saw the round of games kick off with Elche producing another impressive display to beat Valencia 2-1.
