The FIVB announced here on Tuesday that it would launch an athletes' relief support fund to help professional volleyball and beach volleyball players who have been affected by the global coronavirus pandemic.
Defined as short-term financial assistance, professional volleyball athletes who are currently under hardship including, but not limited to food, family care and housing are able to get support.
The assistance will be determined by an analysis of each individual case.
"Postponement or cancellation of FIVB events will have had a significant impact on their (professional volleyball athletes) everyday lives, therefore, it is the FIVB's responsibility to continue to support them," said FIVB President Ary Graca.
For all applicants, there are also some eligibility criteria, such as being clear from sanctions on international and national levels, having no anti-doping rules violations, and having participated in the minimum required number of FIVB events during the 2018-2019 season.
The application process started on May 26, and the ending date is 23 June.
