A total of 19 people including players from two Turkish football teams were tested positive for COVID-19, the clubs announced Thursday.

Tekin Kerem Ulku, a doctor of the Besiktas football club, declared on Twitter that eight staffers of the club were tested positive.

Ulku said the tests were conducted for the second time for all players, the technical committee, and workers of the facility on Wednesday.

It was not immediately clear if the infected cases included any football player of Besiktas, one of Turkey's leading football clubs competing in the super league.

Meanwhile, BB Erzurumspor, a football club playing in Turkey's First Division league, announced the previous night that at least 11 club members, including four players, were tested positive.

The Milliyet daily noted the samples of 83 staffers of the club were collected, and 60 of them were tested negative, 11 positive, and 12 determined as suspicious.

The BB Erzurumspor's management said in a tweet that those who were tested positive and the suspected cases were deployed to hospitals.

The compound of the club in Turkey's eastern province of Erzurum has been kept under quarantine for 14 days.

The Super Lig, the First Division, the Second Division, the Third Division, and the regional amateur leagues were suspended on March 19 because of the pandemic.

The Turkish Football Federation recently announced that the leagues would resume on June 12 without spectators.
